How to style a blazer

Blazers have been a big part of my style for a number of years now and the trend for wearing them off duty, out of the office and as a casual jacket has grown over the past couple of seasons. It’s the perfect jacket to transition into cooler temperatures with, lightweight enough to wear or carry and it has the ability to make an outfit look better instantly. I don't know why, exactly. It could be the collar – everyone looks better with a collar, or the shoulders that create a vertical line for your body shape. It could be the fact that there are so many different options, thus ensuring there's a breadth of colours, fits and sizes. Whatever the reason, now is the perfect time to find a blazer to update other pieces you have in your wardrobe. You will never regret buying one as there are so many things that you can wear it with.

So whether you prefer a tailored, oversized, neutral or bold coloured, check or printed blazer - you can be assured you’re always going to look stylish and well put together with a blazer. It’s classically versatile whilst having an underlining sophistication. Meet your new best friend, your wardrobe staple, your game changer. Thankfully there are many to choose from to buy right now, but I have rounded up the ones that you need the most, of course not all of them but the best of what’s out there right now, to buy now and that you won’t regret.

Back in January I wrote a blog post about what jackets to buy to move into Spring, I featured the shacket ( overshirt / jacket), yes it’s a thing bear with me….I had brought my check one from Zara and certainly got alot of wear out of it and it’s potential for being versatile in your wardrobe is huge.

Now that the weather has turned I found myself reaching for it again and I have seen alot more shacket’s online whilst shopping these past couple of weeks. Here is my top 5 to buy now and believe me you will get so much wear out of this overshirt in the coming weeks its definitely worth the early Autumn investment now

Muscle vests are your new hottest tee

You only need one thing to look stylish this Summer and that’s a muscle vest (fyi that’s the term I have coined for them). Essentially it’s a tank top, a tee that has been cut off at the top of the arms, something that my 10 year old son has been wearing since he watched The Rock in the Jumanji movie. But this small item has grown in cult status over the past coming of weeks, originating from a New York store called The Frankie shop everytime they stock it, it immediately sells out.

Copies all over the high street are now online, it’s a relatively cheap purchase that can be worn with everything from jeans, to shorts, to skirts and trousers. Some come with shoulder pads and some without, stripes, different colours and no doubt prints will be continuing the trend through the summer months.

So bag yours now for an instant tee update for 2020.

Where to shop for your muscle vests…but be quick they sell out fast

The lockdown trend everyone is crazy for

The official quarantine uniform of lockdown 2020 has to be tie-dye!

top.JPG

Synonymous with the 1960’s, tie-dye will forever be associated with a free-spirited hippy lifestyle. In 2019 catwalk runways predicted the return of the blended brightly coloured print, but last year it didn’t make much of an impact, that is until lockdown happened in 2020. Tie dye has become the latest lockdown fashion winner.

There has been a massive trend towards people at home tie-dying their t-shirts, joggers, dresses and anything else they can get hold of. People are becoming obsessed with tie-dying their clothes that it’s become the hottest quarantine pastime. Search terms such as ‘DIY tie-dye’ and ‘tie-dye sweatshirt’ surged in popularity on Google and You Tube over the past couple of weeks. One of the positives of this trend is that people are upcycling clothes they already own without leaving the house.

Celebs such as Laura Whitmore have been showcasing their tie-dye wardrobes on Instagram. Other Instagram influencers have been using the pastime to get their kids involved whilst home schooling.
