Marks & Spencer Autumn picks

Autumn is launching all over the high street right now. Marks & Spencer have come with a big statement about their fashion and it’s with ‘big energy’.

No longer just about knickers and grey school trousers, the brand is pushing its fashionability giving it’s departments a fresh new drive for the season ahead. The styling of the brands marketing campaign still remains to be the best part, sometimes in real life the pieces they are pushing are still. not as fashion forward as they are styled.

I still find M&S tricky to shop instore, the layout and the merchandising still looks dated and I can’t often find pieces I am looking for because they have been put back with other pieces that you perhaps would not wear with it. Online is better but often the best things go out of stock super quickly. Whilst shopping with a client in M&S the other day I did a try on and pulled some outfits together of the pieces I liked whilst in store.

The online range is much more extensive and I love mixing up the different trends they have chosen to back this season. I have pulled together 2 mood boards of pieces I love at the moment. One is for COOL tones and one is for WARM tones.

Blue blouse

Black jumper

Stripe rugby top

Pink blazer

Navy trousers

sequin skirt

Crochet pieces for Summer

Crochet is this Summer’s biggest new fabric hit. Last summer I saw crochet start to trickle through into beach cover-up and matching sets for holidays, they are great pieces to dress up for evenings and dress down for daytime. But this year everyone is having a go at bringing this fabric upto date and giving it a new spin. My green matching set is from Mango and it is from their collaboration range with Simon Miller USA.

With so many pieces out there right now it’s hard to know what to choose and where to look. Everyone from Marks & Spencer to your Spanish retailers such as Zara and high end pieces from independents like Outdazl all have something to offer. See my picks below to help you find the best pieces for your Summer of crochet.

Spring denim 2023

2023 is the year of denim. For whatever reason it is everywhere and worn in every possible way including double denim.

If you buy one thing for spring, make it something denim. Denim is timeless. But its silhouettes aren’t exactly immune to fashion’s trend cycle either. Season after season, there’s continuous excitement and curiosity surrounding what specific looks will enter and exit the chat. Are low-rise jeans back? Are skinny jeans dead? Well, consider these and the rest of your burning sartorial questions for 2023’s spring denim trends answered.

It's easy to style with any wardrobe essential and even easier to fashion into any form, with dresses, skirts, shirts and more made from the failsafe fabric. The styles go much further than our favourite pair of straight-leg jeans. Consumers are seeing denim as more than the everyday basic than it once was. People are, of course, still in the market for that one great fitting pair of everyday jeans, but they’re also looking for something unique and special that they can mix into their everyday rotation.

So whilst low slung jeans are back in style it doesn’t mean we have to wear them. It’s about choosing some great denim pieces and using them back with everything else in your wardrobe for a wearable but upto date look.

Here are the spring/summer 2023 denim pieces that are bound to reap compliments.

The only skirt you need this season

Denim Midi or Maxi skirt

Last seen during the height of Sienna Miller’s boho era, get ready for the denim midi and maxi skirt to come back in 2023. It was a dominant presence on the runways of all the Spring/Summer shows, the denim skirt is looking like a serious contender for best in show. The denim maxi skirt promises versatility and, more notably for those who shied away from it's skin-baring counterpart the mini, lots of wearability. It has already made its way into lots of fashion influencers wardrobes so be prepared for the denim skirt to reign in this year.

One of its many attributes is that it can be worn trans seasonally. I wore this white denim midi skirt throughout Spring/Summer 2022 and have been styling it with thick tights and boots for Winter. It would also work well with knee high boots, thick jumpers and leather biker jackets.

Denim maxi skirt I am wearing is from Zara, £45.99
