High street edit

Navigating the fast-paced world of fashion can be overwhelming, especially when it comes to shopping on the high street. While high street fashion offers a variety of trendy pieces at affordable prices, it can often result in a closet filled with fleeting trends that you go off after one wear. Here I am offering you a chance to see pieces that I know are good quality, that will elevate your style and will align with your personal style. Some pieces to refresh your wardrobe and give your wardrobe a new lease of life for 2024.

It’s around this time of year that we can start getting bored of our wardrobe as we are mid way through Winter now. I have picked out pieces that I have either bought recently, are on my wish list or picked because they have longevity into Spring and years to come.

I have picked an Edit for COOL skintones and one for WARM skintones so you can shop from the links the pieces that suit you best.

Spring's hottest piece of outerwear - how to style the trench coat

A smell of Spring is in the air and for alot of us it’s been a long time coming stuck in lockdown walking everyday in the snow, rain and mud, it’s lovely to see some Spring shoots coming up reminding us that these bleak times are coming to an end sometime soon. So my attention moves to Spring styling, clothes and shopping. On my last blog post I told you about the 6 Spring items that will elevate your wardrobe and top of the list is a trench coat. It is the must-have piece to layer under your coat, over your knitwear or blazer and will keep you looking stylist the whole of this year.

The problem is most trenches either come in stone or stone or stone and finding the right tone for the right skin colour can often be a problem. So I am going to show you some options for each colour palette for you to buy and also show you how to style it up into outfits. Stone is normally a warm tone so suits Spring and Autumn palettes better, Winter and Summer do have stone tones that suit them, but it needs to be cool and can be quite hard to find. The one I have styled for this blog post is a warm tone and not right for me as I am a cool tone, so I had to send the trench back unfortunately. I am on the hunt as a Winter colour palette to find the right stone trench, but the easy way out would be for more to follow the colour rules below. WHAT COLOUR TRENCH TO BUY IF YOU ARE A WINTER COLOUR PALETTE

Screenshot 2021-02-18 at 17.46.52.png

If you are a Winter colour true black and true white are perfect for your skin tone. Dark navy makes a nice change to black and as long as the grey is solid you can go dark or light in the tone of grey.

WHAT COLOUR TRENCH TO BUY IF YOU ARE A SUMMER COLOUR PALETTE

If you are a Summer colour palette black near your face will make you look older and will make your delicate colouring disappear. The closest you have to black is a dark ash brown and dark greyish blues. True white is also too harsh on you, and you are better off choosing chalky whites or soft greys instead.

If you are an Autumn colour palette true black is not the best colour for you since it is too dark, cool, and harsh. In its place, you have dark browns, deep warm navies, and very dark slightly-olive greens, but stones are great for a trench. The best versions of white for True Autumn are slightly yellowed off-whites that are warmer than true white. Variations of beige, cream, and ecru are also good.

If you are a Spring colour palette True black is not the right colour for you since it is cold and dark in contrast to your warm and light appearance. Instead, you have lots of other darker colour options – such as slightly greenish greys and darker browns. The closest colour to black on your palette is a medium-dark, warm grey. Instead of true white, which is also too cool for your appearance, you have a soft yellowish and a pinkish off-white. These colours are warmer and more flattering for Light Springs.

The lockdown trend everyone is crazy for

The official quarantine uniform of lockdown 2020 has to be tie-dye!

top.JPG

Synonymous with the 1960’s, tie-dye will forever be associated with a free-spirited hippy lifestyle. In 2019 catwalk runways predicted the return of the blended brightly coloured print, but last year it didn’t make much of an impact, that is until lockdown happened in 2020. Tie dye has become the latest lockdown fashion winner.

There has been a massive trend towards people at home tie-dying their t-shirts, joggers, dresses and anything else they can get hold of. People are becoming obsessed with tie-dying their clothes that it’s become the hottest quarantine pastime. Search terms such as ‘DIY tie-dye’ and ‘tie-dye sweatshirt’ surged in popularity on Google and You Tube over the past couple of weeks. One of the positives of this trend is that people are upcycling clothes they already own without leaving the house.

Celebs such as Laura Whitmore have been showcasing their tie-dye wardrobes on Instagram. Other Instagram influencers have been using the pastime to get their kids involved whilst home schooling.
